Why Apple makes smbfs a proprietary project? I think CIFS/SMB will be the most important file-sharing protocol among Mac/Linux/Windows, and it would get more supports if it was an opensource project. That project no longer ships in OS X as of 10.11. The SMB implementation was rewritten and is not open source.

Hello, I noticed that the source code download link of smbfs (on Mac 10.11/10.12) is removed from https://opensource.apple.com/. The last available version of smbfs is (smb-759.40.1), on xnu 10.10.5.
So, could somebody tell me where the code of smbfs on 10.11/10.12 can be download? And how to contribute code to it if it's still an opensource project.
