Sorry for posting on the wrong list. I'm not sure what list it belongs on to tell the truth. I naively thought there was some simple kernel call that would give all this info without having to write parsing functions - something along the lines of sysctl or Gestalt. The docs are overwhelming when you're looking for a quick and dirty solution for what used to be simpler in the good ole' days of OS 9. Unless you're presenting it for user consumption, there are finer- grained mechanisms for determining release to release behavioural differences. This email sent to site_archiver@lists.apple.com
