The last Darwin installable version on that hardware, an 7500 with a G3 upgrade card seems to have fallen off the map for Apple people to bother with. And of course, since my main thing does not derive from making up such deficits, I haven't really looked into finding some alternative method. Even then, the only version I have compiled to something that actually worked was perhaps 1999 before IOKit was blessed upon us. Since then even trying to compile that has left off with missing libraries, or misplaced headers, or makefiles that are broken in some way or another. At the moment I usually use the sources as a detailed document for figuring out how to work around IOKit...
