Darwin-kernel mailing list (Darwin-kernel@lists.apple.com) Help/Unsubscribe/Update your Subscription: http://lists.apple.com/mailman/options/darwin-kernel/site_archiver%40lists.a... The number "5" is generated by a closed-source component of OS X. No one here can tell you what it means. Most of us, myself included, don't know what it means. Sorry. Typically, spontaneous sleeping problems can be caused by: thermal overheating, low capacity or aging batteries, a bad power supply on the logic board, or a number of other things. Ultimately, I'd suggest taking it to an Apple Store or mac support provider. I am trying to find out where to go to find out how to interpret the entries in system.log. For example I am trying to track down a problem concerning random sleeping with my macbook. A log entry of interest is: It must documented somewhere what the "5" means. But I don't even know who would know such a thing. So I am throwing it out to the list members. This is just one example of a log entry that would be much more helpful if I could find some documentation. This email sent to ebold@apple.com This email sent to site_archiver@lists.apple.com
