Are there any tentative plans to replace ipfw with the OpenBSD project's pf in 10.4, as the FreeBSD projects is reportedly doing in 5.3? Thanks, ~ per i've asked a similar question over the past year or so ... answer seems to be "we're looking into ipfw2", and that's it. just fyi: personally, i finally gave up w/ ipfw vs. stateful rules on Mac, and lack of support/info. bought a Linksys WRT54G linux-core wireless router for $59, installed Sveasoft's firmware upgrade, and used Vadim Kurland's (www.fwbuilder.org) fwbuilder2 (still in very late beta ... soon to be released). up & running w/ a stateful, multi-vlan, graphically configured, and auto-installed iptables firewall in "an hour or so" (once some of the beta bugs were ironed out ... they're fixed & gone, now). plus, support from both firewall builder & sveasoft is fabulous/responsive, AND 'gobs' of info available on iptables makes this a dream! richard _______________________________________________ darwin-kernel mailing list | darwin-kernel@lists.apple.com Help/Unsubscribe/Archives: http://www.lists.apple.com/mailman/listinfo/darwin-kernel Do not post admin requests to the list.
