My payload _has_ root:wheel set on source .kext directory (and all content), but upon installation in /S/L/E only the top folder has root:wheel (content is user:admin), hence it fails to load upon completion of the installation. Sorry, my bad. Forgot to go through each content item and set root:wheel. Works now. Although I still do the sudo touch /S/L/E... Especially a kernel extension (*). You should have the correct owner, group and permissions set in the payload of your package. Doesn't seem to be correct. My payload _has_ root:wheel set on source .kext directory (and all content), but upon installation in /S/L/E only the top folder has root:wheel (content is user:admin), hence it fails to load upon completion of the installation. If I do "chown -R root:wheel /S/L/E/MyKext.kext" everything works as expected. Package maker tends to find and replace the application if it is already installed. For example, if a copy of the application binary is on the desktop, it would replace it when the package is installed even though the install path is /Applications. If you are using the command line interface for packaging, try using the following switch: /--no-relocate/ Yep, that did it, thank you. I could've sworn that the checkbox wasn't checked. App install stops working

In my installation I have a .app thats installed under /Applications. Worked just fine up until a couple of minutes ago. Now when I run the installation the .app is never installed, and I have not touched the package containing the .app (only the one containing the .kext). Thnx, that seems to have done the trick. No more error dialog during installation :) Now PM just have stopped installing the contained application into /Applications, but that's another matter... PM kext installation problem

The installation completes and my kext and its associated application works just fine, BUT, during installation I get an error dialog saying that the kext was "impropery installed". What might induce that, since obviously it has installed correctly ? I'm on 10.6 and the kext is a virtual audio device that upon installation has no active audio engine (i.e. no audio device is shown in Audio MIDI setup). The engines are created via a device specific user client object (when the associated application is started). Ideas ?
