Then, in your distribution script, you create a remote reference to this package. And you use a requirement for this (invisible or not) choice that checks if java is installed. If it's already installed, just unselect and disable the choice. What I get is this: 10.5: -> apps.length is undefined 10.6: -> apps.length is zero the system.applications.fromIdentifier API seems to be working fine on 10.5. You can call python from your post install script: - it's usually better to use absolute path for command line tools. i.e. /usr/bin/python - if what you are doing in your post install script is to call a python script, why not have the python script be the post install script? Regarding contexts, the extra resources of a package are extracted at the same level as your post install script. So ./ should work fine to get to the relative location.
