This is not an easy problem, because: 1) What if there's more than one user on the system? You really should do this for all users. 1b) What if some user is created later? There's no easy way to set preferences for uncreated users. 1c) What if some users' home directories are not local to the machine? 2) During preflight/postflight scripts, installer is running as root. You have to take special care to "su" to the user in question while creating the preferences, and make sure that the owner/group/permissions are correct. That all being the case, it's possible to address most of these things. Perhaps someone can share some code to do so? Hello, I'm a newbie in packaging for MAC OS... At the moment I already tried to create a few simple packages (using the PackageMaker)... But, unfortunately each time i was faced with the same problem - how to install settings files into the "~/Library/Preferences" folder for each user who uses the computer. By default via PKG file I can install files into current users' profile only... PS: I need to prepare ~ 100 applications for the enterprise deployment. So I need some common solution. Or, maybe I should some specific tool to distribute per-user data... Meta Package How-To

For the life of me, I am trying to make a meta-package. I have used iceberg successfully, but I need to use packagemaker to ensure future usability. I can make packages: one for framework, one for luanchd plist, etc, but they are all separate packages. I want to create a metapackage that does pre-flight, post-install, etc scripts. I prefer LaunchAgent; but there may be reasons to use a global login item instead, especially if you are supporting older OSes, as LaunchAgents for GUI apps didn't really work properly in Tiger.
