I'm using PackageMaker version 3.0.6 and I'd like to customize the title text on the Welcome dialog. is getting truncated as our [ProductName] is too long. Is there a way in which I can either customize the wording or make the Installer dialog bigger. AFAIK, there's no way to do this. If the title is too long, Installer will decrease the size of the font. On recent OS version, it may display the title on 2 lines (but I'm not sure whether this is a new bug or a new feature). _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list. I'm running it on OS 10.8.1 and previously 10.7.4 but never found that it reduces the font size or displays the title over more than one line. Strange.

Possible to customize an installer's failure message?

Hi there, I'm working on building an installer using Packages, and it has a postflight script that can fail in a number of different ways. I was wondering if there was a way to change what an installer's failure message is, perhaps programmatically, so that it can a) be more specific about what went wrong, and/or b) give instructions to the user about how to proceed. Right now, it just gives a generic "Install Failed" message that's not very helpful. Is there any way to do this? The source from NeXTSTEP/OpenStep days would not be 100% useful as according to the man page for bom: "OS X's bill of materials format is not compatible with formats from older operating systems." I'm interested in generating Apple packages using cross-platform tools. Is there any documentation on the BOM file format, or any hint as to its structure?
