Wild guess: Based on the log records, maybe it's a package that has been built for the Mac App Store using productbuild or the Xcode integrated feature. There's an additional option for the installer command-line tool that allows to install a Mac App Store package for testing purpose. Re: Invoking system.run in a flat package

Hi all, I faced the same error "IFJS: Error while running task (null) *** -[NSCFDictionary setObject:ForKey:]: attempt to insert nil value(key:_NSTaskExecutablePath)" on invoking sysem.run in flat package but on SnowLeopard. But same thing is worked fine for me on Lion and Mountain Lion. In my case the executable lies in the Scripts folder (is created manually and parallel to Resources folder). I also tried placing the executable in Resources folder, but got the same error. According to InstallerJavaScriptGuide it should works as I am fulfilling all the prerequisite for using external scripts. ~Khushneet _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list. 2 solutions: - either you use a recent version of Xcode 4 on a recent version of Mac OS X and you just have to: 1. Get a Developer ID Application certificate (or another one if you're not targeting Gatekepper), install it. 2. Pick this certificate in the Project Settings. You're done. - or you use the codesign command line tool. One possible reason why you may want to use codesign is that you're working on an open source project and you probably don't want your own certificate being distributed with the code source of the project. Packages and kext on 10.6 and 10.7

Hello all. I am trying to use Packages to build installer containing kext under both 10.6 and 10.7+ system, and ran into some problem. Under 10.6, codesign utility does create some extra symlinks inside application, like CodeResources -> _CodeSignature/CodeResources for application bundle, or for kext CodeDirectory -> _CodeSignature/CodeDirectory CodeRequirements -> _CodeSignature/CodeRequirements CodeResources -> _CodeSignature/CodeResources CodeSignature -> _CodeSignature/CodeSignature Under 10.7 no such symlinks are created. I had added the kext to the project, made the "Expand all" to be sure every component does have "root:wheel" ownership. Now, if i try to build package under 10.7, "packagesbuild" utility complains it can not find symlinks. How should I fix this issue, can I make Packages not to bind to particular files inside of the kext bundle and just copy it "as is"? If i remove and re-add it, without expanding, would it guarantee to set valid ownership for the whole hierarchy? Christopher, I've not yet had to sign my application, but I'll be doing so shortly for the newer os x versions. I was simply curious if there were any details on this process in general for my review. Thanks for asking promptly though! After 14 steps, I think most users would have long been gone to a bar to order a beer and try to forget they ever started such an installation process. That being said, you don't have to have just one pane per step. You can have multiple panes per step/section.
