Could you construct a sample package that has this problem that we could use to figure out what is going on? It turns out there MUST be a problem with command line installer installing meta-packages to a seperate volume. I modified my login script to install the packages, this way the installer can install on the local system and all seems well. So..I dont know what to say....but it appears I am not the only one that has bumped up against this. Once again, the command line installer works GREAT if I am installing to -target /, but not -target /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/ especially if that is not the volume the system is currently running on. -----Original Message----- From: installer-dev-bounces+perbix=lmsd.org@lists.apple.com on behalf of Perbix, Michael Sent: Mon 7/3/2006 8:37 PM To: installer-dev@lists.apple.com Subject: Meta-packages I install software packages during our imaging process. The post action script uses the command line installer using the following syntax the $1 is a variable which defines the HD that is being imaged. I am booted from a netboot volume (NetRestore). Simple packages work well, and I can install several in a row with no issues. But as soon as I try to install a Meta-Package (or a Distribution with packages/meta-packages) the system bombs out. The meta-package works however if being installed manually using the GUI installer once booted from the HD. It seems however that the installer process WORKS on Intel netboots but not on PPC. Does anyone know if there is a known bug in installer to install meta-packages or distribution onto a remote volume using the command line installer?
