While packages can certainly call hosted components via URL, I'm hard pressed to think of a use case where that is actually all that useful. Yes, versioning comes to mind, but for the effort to go through to maintain a hosted payload, why not modify the distribution? I guess I'm trying to ask more about your particular goal rather trying to advise on the end process.
It's not a perfect solution (for instance, there are issues with signatures) but some cases where it may be useful are: - you do not own/maintain one of the components and the package is (reliably) hosted somewhere. - a component is late or QA is not complete yey and the distribution needs to be made available in a disk image for another entity. _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
