I see what you mean. So I tried a different test. This time, I installed v1.0 of the application and left it where it is. I then tried installing v2.0. But when I study the results, I find that I still have v1.0. Either upgrading does not work well, or something else is amiss. The user guide for PackageMaker 3.0 is quite unclear about the topic of relocation. Then again, that is why I'm writing the article. Can anyone help clarify this? This is for a MacTech article that I am writing. I think that means "make buttons in the installer UI that will install the thing in a different place." I think your story was "after the installer is done, the user drags things elsewhere." The second installer would have "found" the Receipt for the first install, in /Library/Receipts/. But since you probably didn't change the receipt file when dragging the app elsewhere, the second installer didn't know to overwrite your moved application.
