Yes, yes, it's a bad idea... I'm not proud of it. It was more a "quick way to do things" that stayed around than anything else. Better ideas are welcome. Since you asked: the script is here: http://tinyurl.com/ee-preflight . Really nothing to be proud of. I'm installing additional software (plugins) on top of an already installed applications (Eclipse distributions). see http://www.easyeclipse.org for details. If multiple distributions are already installed, I let the user choose which installation he wants to install on. Also, I was warning him if the plugin was already installed, but I know understand (thanks to your insistence) it's useless and I can remove it. I guess I'm curious what it is you're trying to do, here... Are you trying to make the installer pop up a dialog box to the user or something? IF so, I'd submit at this point that that is a trademarked "Bad Idea" as it were. Not that I can't imagine a sittuation where it would be useful, but it's not the 'right' way to do it. Are you trying to let the user configure the installation or something? If so, would it perhaps be more appropriate to do it on the first run of the app? But it's ugly, from the point of view of the user... Any other idea ? If you tell application "System Events" to display the dialog, it's less intrusive for the user. I'm resisting dog-piling onto the Bad Idea Train :) This email sent to site_archiver@lists.apple.com
