Sorry if this is the wrong list - pointers to the right one or some other site welcome.
I'm in a corporate environment. We have a standard build that we use that has our apps installed and configured, etc. We use SuperDuper to load the build. The Macs are not joined to the domain, so they all get built with a generic account name.
We want to join the Macs to the domain and I can do that. The only thing is that it creates a new account, and loses all the custom application/network/printer/etc settings. I've seen people talk about scripting these so as a new account is created, these things fall into place (dock icons, prefs modified, proxies set, etc). I need to do this.
What I am looking for is someone who has a similar script already set up who could give me a copy to play with (obviously I would have you nix any passwords, etc) so I can start playing with it a bit and rebuilding it to suit my needs. I'm new to scripting and feel more comfortable seeing something that works, then dissecting it (read "breaking it and fixing it again") to learn how it works.
Thanks for any help/scripts to get me started. Sorry if this is the wrong list.
AFAIK, on Mac OS X, when you create a new user account, it uses a template to create the default home folder. This template is available at the following location (at least on Tiger): /System/Library/User Template _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
