Re: Version No. info for MetaPackage
Versioning is not supported for flat distributions. I guess the logic is that since distributions are not registered in the installation database, there's no point in versioning them. Regarding workarounds, it depends on whether you need to see the version or access it. If you just need to be able to see it and if for instance you have a custom welcome, a solution could be to add the version to the welcome. If you need to access it, a solution could be to add an empty payload and invisible package whose sole purpose is to provide a placeholder for the version of the distribution through its own version. This way it would be registered in the installation database. But I don't think this is a good idea. On Wed, Aug 8, 2012 at 2:04 PM, Khushneet Inder Singh <ksingh@quark.com> wrote:
Hi All,
Can anybody tells me is there any way to give version no. info to flat metapackage. As ‘-- version' flag is only applicable to single package flat installer. Is there any workaround or something.
Thanks,
Khushneet
