Rebooting the computer does not cause the program to crash again. I am attaching a sample crash report below. If I download the same installer again from my FTP site (either as a ZIP or a DMG), and unzip or mount the DMG, and run the installer again, the program does not crash. If I upload the same installer again from my build machine (a G5 Mac), download again, etc., the program does not crash. If I REBUILD the installer on the build machine, upload, download, and run, then (finally, whew!) the program will crash. During all of this, there is no need to reboot or clean up anything on the target computer. So the stuff that might have been set up by the first run of the program would still be there for the new run which also crashes. It looks like the crash might be in Rosetta. The interesting thing about this is that the 2nd and later times that you run the app (or run the installer again) everything is fine! If my code were doing that, I'd look into "stuff my program does only the first time it runs," like creating directories to log into, initializing Preferences, that sort of thing. Mebbe a bad free in there or something. Gonna be hard to test, I can see, since every time you run a test you "fix" the problem on that machine! Do you know how to "break" it again? Like say, reboot the system, and now the app will crash one more time? This email sent to site_archiver@lists.apple.com
