using a disk image to install software
site_archiver@lists.apple.com Delivered-To: installer-dev@lists.apple.com I have two questions: Thanks, Chuck _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list. For one of our products I use a disk image for users to install software. The user is supposed to drag the application to the Applications directory. Invariably, someone always double-clicks on the application on the disk image and becomes confused. Next, they send tech support emails, etc. 1. Does anyone know of a good generic description of how to install an application from a disk image? I have a customer that doesn't understand that they're running my application from the disk image. We've already gone back and forth quite a bit. I'm looking for something like this, but generic: http://www.omnigroup.com/applications/omniweb/download/ 2. It would be great if the Finder could warn, not allow, or allow launching from a disk image. This could be a property added to the info.plist of an application. Has this been considered? Should I file a bug/request? This email sent to site_archiver@lists.apple.com
