On a separate note, we (Apple's Software Distribution & Installation Technology group) realize there is high demand for a sample Installer PlugIn for developers to leverage (hopefully to mitigate difficulties exactly like the one's you're having right now and to speed up your development process.) We're working on this right now, and will post it to this development list once it's available.
