Thanks for the reply. Cleaning the temporary directories and restarting does not correct the problem. And the files never really get installed there anyway. I checked when the installer finished before and after the required reboot. Also, all other installed components (in /Library and /System) install fine. Just the items in /Applications are lost.... The same packaging script works fine when built on OS 10.4 and installed on 10.[45] The Archive.bom contents contain the correct paths when viewed with lsbom. I cannot find any apple docs that talk about the installer "diverting" files. Does anyone know what can cause this crazy behavior???
