Then, IIRC, Admin authorization arrived with a new nice plist format on Jaguar. Then problems started: when admin authorization was on, some things behaved differently from what was expected (directory permissions not being set correctly on 10.3 when the package is relocatable for instance). Another issue is the confusion introduced by Admin authentication vs Root authentication as it's difficult to sort out which one to use in which case.
