Thanks Stuart! Really the question is not if we can add a line item to a .plist but "Do we or do we not change user defined preferences?" My Windows counterpart here agrees with meĀuser defined is user defined and we don't change those once a user has defined them. Sounds perfectly possible to me but you have the usual caveats regarding modifying a particular user's environment. What do you do about other users on the system, users that are added later etc etc. Can you give anymore details on what it is you're doing? Can you not edit this plist (what plist is it?) when the app/whatever is first launched?

Hey all....
Is it possible to script a line item addition to a user's .plist file? It been my understanding this is not possible. Please advise.
