Is this a mpkg or a pkg? The thing is, the Installer ui will show upgrade if a receipt for any of the pkgs are part of a mpkg are on disk and being installed. If this is just a single pkg, are you sure you deleted the entire receipt for that package? You can do an experiment, temporarily rename /Library/Receipts for the target you are choosing to /Library/Receipts.off, does it still say upgrade? It shouldn't. Hello, How does the Apple installer go about deciding whether it is upgrading an existing installation or installing a new one? I am having trouble on one test machine where the installer says it is doing an upgrade but on which I have deleted everything that I install including the file in receipts. There is no problem on the other test machines. Only difference with this machine is that the OS X is installed on an external firewire drive. This email sent to site_archiver@lists.apple.com
