They are broken, but DMG Canvas gets pretty close to fixing it at

least for backward compatibility to 10.5.  There's a preference to

enable Leopard compatibility, and it does work! FYI: The Preference to enable Leopard compatibility in DMG Canvas does not work for me if I run the command line tool from the paid version.  I have to use the GUI to get backward compatible builds.
