You can use command line tools, gestalts, etc. The problem is that this piece of information is inaccurate (or wrong). Since Apple is pushing out security updates, oops updates (1), a Mac system said to be for instance 10.5.1 by the former methods is not really a genuine 10.5.1 version. So what would be the correct way of figuring out the real OS version? Or is it better to consider that we have a OS version with "Service Packs"? Since there's no APIs or tools to get the Service Pack version, what would be the recommended way? bom inspection, installdb queries?
