When I needed to make installer construction part of the automated process, I reached the same conclusion independently, long before joining this list. I might have been more tactful, or I might not. Personally I'd rather have Apple be graceful about the matter and provide a comprehensive bug-list instead of wasting the time of everyone who goes though the same unfortunate experience.
