Out of curiosity, and since I've experimented with building mac packages on linux, in what way does the flattened package differ when you compress it with xar and not pkgutil?

There should not be any difference as long as the contents you're putting in the xar .pkg archive is correctly prepared. e.g. additional resources need to be cpio dittoed, some metadata files are to be compressed, some not. _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
