In 99.99% of cases, this happens because you really have a newer version on disk. On Wed, Aug 31, 2011 at 6:29 PM, Xochitl Lunde <Xochitl_Lunde@tripplite.com> wrote:
I recently rebuilt my Mac OS daemon (after a very long time) without making any changes. When I run the installer on Snow Leopard for some reason it now tells me “Application can’t be installed on this disk. A newer version of this software already exists on this disk.”
It used to just install over and over on top of itself, which I thought was designed behavior so that a user could re-run the package if he accidentally deleted some application files.
The application has been removed from the disk and unloaded from launchctl, but now I can’t install it again. What’s changed?
I was using Iceberg 1.2.9 to make the package, which I did not update since the last time I built the package. I’m at Mac OS X 10.6.8 10K549 and Software Update doesn’t give me any new choices.
Thanks,
