More permissions questions
site_archiver@lists.apple.com Delivered-To: installer-dev@lists.apple.com Still, why the difference? How come he is in 'staff' while I am not. Installer-dev mailing list (Installer-dev@lists.apple.com) Help/Unsubscribe/Update your Subscription: http://lists.apple.com/mailman/options/installer-dev/site_archiver%40lists.a... OK, I have another interesting permissions question. On my machine, with a fairly standard setup, my userid is jdaniel and I am a member of the following groups: jdaniel appserveradm appserverusr procmod admin. My wife's account is the same. Both accounts are identical on three machines. I have a user who is having trouble with an installer. His user id is paulquin and he is a member of groups: staff and admin. He has 10.4.8 like me. He may have installed differently than me via Archive and Install, for example - I don't know. How come I am in a group having the same name as my user id, while he is not? What should the ownership of a user-installed application look like? Apple's apps are owned by root:admin. All my apps are owned by jdaniel:jdaniel. Should my 3rd party apps be jdaniel:admin, for example? This email sent to site_archiver@lists.apple.com
