Assuming by OS 4, you mean Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger), you have access to the domain installation options. You will need to make sure you're building a distribution. In the Distribution > Configuration pane, check the "User home directory" "Install Destination" option and uncheck the "Volume selected by user" option.
