This is an absolutely lousy attitude, and the reason that stuff is now taking ~2G per install. Just because HD space is plentiful does not mean that an app should act like some kind of digital gas that expands to fill the available space. Furthermore, you missed an important point. The game will not handle more than one language being installed at once. While a large amount of the files are identical per language, there are a whole set of them that are different for each language.
