Re: Two PackageMaker problems

So have you had this particular problem? Do you just set the permissions back to the usual defaults, or do you go through the trouble of saving the exact state of these dirs before installing, and then restoring them back to exactly what they were before. I guess I'm wondering if someone would ever want to change the default permissions on these dirs, and therefore be pissed when my installer restores the default settings. Does Apple know about this problem?
I had this problem when I (wrongly) assumed that PackageMaker would use the existing permissions on a few directories. This made it so that a NIB file wouldn't load. Things work much better after using a postinstall script to set the permissions the way they should have been. I had this problem with 10.3.4 (maybe), but I've been using the postinstall method since and haven't removed it. -Matt _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
