I am trying to deploy an application together with postgresql. Therefore, i compiled postgres versions on Intel, G4 and G5. Mostly, this works perfectly. But on some machines, the installation was successful and postgres does not start. You will have to tell us more. Did you look at the postgresql logs to see why it would not start? What did you see? I presume you are putting all that is needed by postgresql in a location other than the standard system places. You may also want to link to your own copy (of statically) on system libraries or be very careful which frameworks and libraries used by postgresql on different OS versions.
