NSPOSIXErrorDomain code 2 "No such file or directory" from NSURLSession background download task?

A number of my requests are calling didCompleteWithError: with NSPOSIXErrorDomain code 2 "No such file or directory". These are CloudFront temporarily-authorized URLs with a five-minute timeout. But the response object has a 200 status, and the correct content-length and content-type headers. What does this error mean?
