My rMBP does this too....no idea why. Wireless is just plain flaky. I would look for a solution, but since it re-establishes itself so quickly, there's no point from my end. I have to design my services (incoming and outgoing) around it. Lots of folks have flaky wifi on newer laptops (not necessarily a majority).

I'm seeing some strange behavior that I wouldn't expect.

I have a Retina 15" MBP connected to our company WiFi for network access. Periodically, this connection is dropped. That is, the Mac no longer shows that I'm connected to the airport network, and I lose my network access. I can immediately re-select the WiFi network and it immediately reconnects. Or I can wait a long while and it'll reconnect on its own.
I also have a Linux-based single-board computer. It has Ethernet, connected to the Mac via a Thunderbolt dongle. The Mac is configured to share the Internet connection on WiFi to computers using the Thunderbolt Ethernet. The Linux board uses DHCP to get an address, and is usually up on 192.168.2.2. The Mac's WiFi address is 10.1.10.124, and its TB Ethernet IP address is self-assigned, and bridge0 is 192.168.2.1.
The Linux board also has a WiFi dongle on its USB port, and that's also connected to the company WiFi, but can also host its own network.
I usually have an ssh session open from the Mac to the Linux computer to 192.168.2.2.
Weird part: -----------
The Mac lost its WiFi again. But ALL networks went down, including the connection to the Linux board over TB Ethernet. My ssh session became unresponsive.
I manually re-connected to WiFi on the Mac, and both it and the TB Ethernet connection came back up. So did the ssh connection, as if nothing had happened.
I get that I should've lost WiFi connectivity, but why did I lose the TB Ethernet?
I think I just answered my own question: the bridge lost WiFi, so it took everything else down. Is there a way to keep it up?
