I extracted the necessary code from the Cocoa sample FinalCutPro_AppleEvents over to Carbon but now it doesn't work. Yes, FCP Apple Events can be used in Carbon. The OS shouldn't care what libraries a given app links against when using Apple Events. You might want to post a snippet of code and what error values you're getting back. Unfortunately it's a bug - the readXML response is not behaving correctly for fields of type Timecode. I've logged in our bug tracking system. The only thing I can suggest at the moment is to store that value in a different field type (eg, unicode), and then if you are interacting with another external system convert back to a timecode on the way out. I am trying to change several metadata fields of an asset in FinalCutServer using a ReadXML response reading an xml file containing the requests in the required format. This works well for all requests affecting metadata fields of type string. However, requests for fields containing a datatype timestamp are simply ignored. Since I could not really find an example for a timecode request anywhere, I have derived the naming and format of such a request from a WriteXML created xml file out of FinalCutServer. I would appreciate any suggestions how to get this to work. I am trying to change several metadata fields of an asset in FinalCutServer using a ReadXML response reading an xml file containing the requests in the required format. By the way, I will not add a custom menu items to the FCP. The Final Cut Pro plugin I'm working on will display a dialog box or a window. There are a few NSTextField, not NSTextView, instance. When a user types some text in the text field instances, he can want to copy/cut and paste text. It was a kind of a free bread for usual Cocoa app. program, but I found out that it was not for the plugin. So, I took a look at other plugins and if it was possible to copy/paste text. There was a plugin, called "EDL", in the export menu of the FXP, and it doesn't have its own menu items like "Copy", "Cut", and "Paste". However, the FXP's menu items under the Edit menu were enabled properly. So, I would like to know how to do so. I tried searching about the text edit prarameter mentioned, but I couldn't figure out what it is for and how to use it.
