The docs should be updated in a few days. Here are the highlights. Details will be in the new version of the doc: ■ Importing XML with timecode information retains the timecode information, even if the clips created are reconnected to media later, as long as the specified timecode data in the XML does not conflict with the specified tracks in the media file. (If the media file specifies a source timecode, XML should specify an Aux1 to avoid conflict). Any specified sound timecode is now exported. ■ The behavior of addifnotfound has changed. Specifically, you can now update the contents of a bin without having to specify every object in the bin. (The change is - If the target component is found and if the target component is a bin, the attributes of the bin are ignored and the children of the bin are processed according to their updatebehavior settings.) ■ Speed handling is improved to be more accurate. FCP now pins bezier handles so that they cannot cause random, unexpected spikes in the wrong direction. ■ The multiclip round-trip process is improved in terms of accuracy of edits as well as effects, transition, and marker handling. ■ Improved memory management and other fixes increase the stability and speed of XML export and import. New Apple Events that support the following functions: ■ Save a specified project file. (Save Project As) ■ Get a table of contents for a specified project. This is very abbreviated information for bin, clips and sequences. Much faster than getting full XML. The sample with the header file should be out in a few days as well. Version 5 of the interchange format was released with Final Cut Pro 7.0. New elements are: ■ subclipmasterid (under clip, clipitem, or generatoritem) ■ parameterspecifier (under parameter) ■ color (under marker) ■ anchoroffset (under keyframe) This email sent to site_archiver(a)lists.apple.com

I check with "FxHostCapabilities hostIsMotion" and "hostIsFCP" / "hostIsFCE" to handle this correctly. The problem appears when a Motion project is inserted into FCP's timeline. Then, "hostIsFCP" returns YES, but the point data retrieval method returns x/y coordinates from the Motion project. Yes, I think if "hostIsMotion" would return YES in that situation, that would fix the problem. I wonder if there is a way for an fxplug effect in FCP to find out if the parameter data originate from a Motion project that was inserted into the FCP timeline. Can an effect get information, in which host the parameter data were created? If not, maybe this is a piece of information, which I should put into a custom parameter? Can you explain in more detail what you mean? For example, if a plugin is running via the Motion.component in FCP, would it be sufficient for calls to the [-FxHostCapabilities hostIsMotion] method to return YES? In Motion's HUD I can't enter text in the combo box, I can only select items from the pull-down list. This seems to be an issue along the same lines. I noticed that Motion's font chooser for the text tool uses combo boxes, and those work as expected in the HUD. Is there something I need to change in the responder chain?
