What problems do you run into when writing plug-ins?

The things I've thought of so far are not properly handling non-square pixels, fields, and proxy resolution. So I'm thinking of writing some documentation on how to properly handle those and how to test your plug-ins to ensure that you're properly handling them. What other problems have vexed you in the past when writing your plug-ins? Anything you wish you had better documentation on? Possibly I'll try the new developer forums. I am the developer of an AU plugin with an internal sequencer. Host synchronization of this sequencer works great in other apps, but not in Logic Pro 8. When I call CallHostBeatAndTempo (&pos, &bpm) in Logic Pro 8.0.2 I get different numbers than Logic's own beats/bars display is reporting. They start out matching the observed tempo of Logic's playback but can drift over time, or even jump to other values suddenly. I'm awaiting Logic 9 in the mail but it would be nice to give my Logic 8 users a solution. This list looks relatively quiet. Media format in Final Cut Pro's XML

site_archiver(a)lists.apple.com Delivered-To: pro-apps-dev(a)lists.apple.com The XML representation of a sequence contains a node for <format> which has two children <samplecharacteristics> and <appspecificdata>. It's the samplecharacteristics I'm interested in because this contains all the codec info. Is there any reason that this isn't included for each media file in a project? It's there in the Final Cut Pro project (Item Properties > Format for a clip in the Browser) but not in the XML. I'd expect it to be in the <file> node.
