I sincerely hope that the person in charge of ProApps figures this out. Also, I can't comment on Lion technology specifically, but I will comment on my products. Glue Tools products will not supported on future Apple OS's. This is not due to any choice that I made. This is disheartening, to say the least. Senior Apple staff have insisted that FCPX and related apps are "Professional" and that the Professional's will be able to continue with the new product. Senior Apple people have also insisted (to my face) that there isn't a real need for third party codec support, either, in the OS. They are considering future support at sometime in the nebulous future. Perhaps their take on the Advertising, Television and Feature Film industry is correct. Perhaps the whole world needs to use ProRes and iPads... and nothing else. But then perhaps the sales (as of yesterday) of my entire product line say something different. For the time being, I will sit back and evaluate whats left of the future of the Final Cut Marketplace. (ie: the crater where FCS and QuickTime used to be..) I believe the best thing for me to do, is to take a break from the Apple dominated production market and wait to see where consumers, indies and studios go with their money. I know of some larger facilities that are in the process of switching from FCS to Adobe premiere, for instance. Its not a reflection of the entire industry, certainly, but it is definitely a harbinger of change. Lastly, due to the American "Sarbanes/Oxley" law, Apple can not add new functionality to a product, without charging for the update. This appears to mean that we are stuck with this steaming mess for at least 2 years. Very likely longer. When you consider the existing rich world of Final Cut plugins and the level of support that the FCP developer community provides for Apple pro apps, it's quite disheartening to find out after the fact that the work we're all doing has just been shot to pieces and we all received no warning through access to beta versions - or at least access to the new APIs - before hand. If I were Darrin, I'd take a few days off right about now as well as I suspect the list content is going to become quite heated.
