This needs to match the start timecode that FCPX reads from the file but it's difficult to reliably predict what FCPX will do. I have two .mov files with a timecode track. In one case FCPX will correctly read the timecode, in the other it ignores the timecode track and assumes the clip starts at 00:00:00:00. That wouldn't be so bad if FCPX just used whatever start time I put in the <asset> and <clip>, but it doesn't, my "start" time has to match what FCPX thinks the timecode of the file is. If I don't correctly guess what FCPX is going to read from the movie the clip will be unplayable!

Angle parameters

There’s a discrepancy in the documentation between addAngleSliderWithName, getFloatValue, and setFloatValue about whether the units are degrees or radians. addAngleSliderWithName says: The min and max values are expressed in radians, while the defaultValue is expressed in degrees. Angle parameter values should be retrieved using the -getFloatValue:, and are expressed in counter-clockwise degrees. Prior to FxPlug 1.2, the documentation for this method had the units (degrees and radians) reversed. However, the implementation has not changed. getFloatValue says: When used to get the value of an angle parameter, the result will be expressed in counter-clockwise radians. setFloatValue says: When used to set the value of an angle parameter, the result will be expressed in counter-clockwise degrees. I’m currently seeing getFloatValue return radians (I’m using ignore min/max so I’m not sure about the min/max values) and I haven’t used setFloatValue. I could have sworn I got degrees out of FCP 10.1 and FCP 7 but I haven’t confirmed that. Can we get clarification on the correct units for these calls (and if there is currently a bug in FCP)? _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list. Tim, FWIW, Paul has moved on to another team here at Apple. (Sadly!) I don’t know if he still checks this list or not. I can’t comment on future plans, but this functionality (and other media-related functionality) is something we continue to discuss. We are keeping it in mind as we decide on future functionality. Rereading it, I’m curious if you can expound on what you need that you can’t get from exporting a project as XML and reading the lists of assets from it? (Feel free to email me offline if you don’t want to discuss it publicly.) Hello all, a few of our users experience occasional termination of the XPC process in our FxPlug3 plugins without obvious reason. There's no crash log, and it can happen during the XPC's idle time. Does anybody here have such problems as well and even find out under which conditions this happens?
