Good question, I thought about this several times: what does FCP do with the id attribute on import. But it was never needed with my projects. There never had been that issue - all stuff was unique. So I didn't give it a test drive. If you do mean the UUID node entry, it only matters in conjunction with the "replace" set in the XML.
