You can, but I'd like to see a compelling case as to why. I can understand retiming filters needing this capability because the explicit purpose of the filter is to change the length of the clip. Why is it so important in a generator, though? And more importantly, why is it more important than the user's need to control their media? You'd be surprised how many people know about this ( and use it on a daily basis ). Most commonly though, the function is used when applying filters to range selections, rather than trimming the length in the time bar. On topic, could I add my vote for an ability to set a generator's duration automagically from within the generator code. That would be extremely useful.
