It's like often you may need it or not. It works like an index in a data base to reference things. It's always a good idea to have them, but sometimes it it could be a pain and after you looked thru your XML structure and the purpose of your app you may may see you don't need them at all or not here or not there but somewhere else. You do not need to handle it in that way FCP handles indices, you can take any way as long as they make sense. A good example where the index really helps is multi clip handling. Would be a long story - and it's late in the night here. Give me a call. I am wondering about the clipindex element in FCP XMLs. What is it used for? Can anyone shed some light, please?
