You might want to take a look at http://www.EditGroove.com/, where you'll find an app called Usermatic. It swaps out settings, may be more than you are asking for, but you might be able to use it in a workflow that addresses your needs. This has been the holy grail of FCP since pretty much version one. We have to assume that for a really good reason it is not possible to make FCP work that way. There are two workarounds: 1 - (as mentioned) have separate user accounts for separate projects 2 - just stop fighting and learn to love the way FCP works - it does keep separate project's data in separate folders - only four of them. Like most things Apple, #2 is much less painful in the long term (you just need a sufficiently huge media drive (pool)) Hello, I'm looking for a way to set global settings based on project settings. For example. When Project A is launched, I would like the Capture Scratch folder to be changed to 'Capture Scratch A', then another editor sits down and opens Project B, which I need to have set to 'Capture Scratch B'. There is a preference file called "Final Cut Pro 6.0 Prefs.fcset". Tried editing is values in HEX, and no luck. Considering building an app, sort of a launcher type app that allows you to choose a project, and changes the Capture Scratch accordingly.
