Unfortunately it was in FCP 7, so slightly OT, but since it was with the FxPlug API, hopefully it is a useful answer going forward as well. I saw a plug-in popup a modal UI, with its own preview window, which updated to match Final Cut's canvas window as the timeline was scrubbed. If someone had asked me if that was possible before I saw that, I would have said no, because I can't think of how. But obviously it is. Any hints on how?
