Since 29.97 is an approximation, it can give round-off errors that will likely accumulate as you attempt to do math on time values. 30000/1001 is the precise value and can be represented as such without any loss of precision. Just curious... What is the advantage of storing the timebase as a fraction? On 4/7/10 9:45 AM, Eryk Vershen wrote: The number pair in parens is a fraction which is the timebase. For example, 29.97 is shown like this "00:00:52;26/(30000,1001)" Sorry about these abbreviations I used. FCS could mean Final Cut Studio but I meant the other FCS: Final Cut Server I know where to find the FCP XML docs, but don't know where to find the FCS (Final Cut Server) XML docs. As I can't find any documentation about the FCS XML format so I'll try it here. Basically it's easy, but there is one question left at this time. Timecode values are stored as "00:10:35:13/(25,1)" for example. My question is about the "(25,1)" : is the "25" in this example the timebase or the actual frame rate and what does the "1" mean?
