In my experience, Compressor, with a virtual cluster, is quite a bit quicker than QT player. My findings are complete. The fact is that I have to use HandBrake to crack my DVDs. The only export from HandBrake is H.264. I then have to transcode from 264 over to DVC. If I could (directly out of HandBrake) either go to codec "none" or "DVC" then I will cut my encoding time by approx 10 fold. The time consuming task is DeCoding the H.264 on my way to DVC. I am using QuickTime Player to do my transcode from h.264 to DVC Pro 25. No app on the Mac can rival QuickTime Player in a straight transcode. Once again Thank You all for the support. Now I just need a programmer to write an exporter from HandBrake. QualityNotQuanity Is there a programmer out there that can build me a version of HandBrake that will export directly to DVC Pro25? HandBrake is OpenSource I think??? Need someone who can turn on a dime. I am "legally ripping" DVDs for the content owner of a TV series and converting them to DVC NTSC so they can be used for an editing competition. I am using Handbrake and it will not go directly to DVC. Hence H.264. I Tried MPEG streamclip and it is a dog on my Mac. I must commend Handbrake as it is hitting all 8 of my processors at 90%. It actually started cooking my machine room and overloading my AC system. For the first time in my ownership of these 8 procs have I seen H.264 encode @ 3 times realtime. I am trying to transcode from h.264 to DVC Pro25 NTSC. I am getting about a 7:1 using an 8 processor machine. Almost all other codecs are near real time. Is this codec just a dog or what? I can encode 10 bit HD 422 1080p faster than this. Anyone know of any new codecs that can hit he registers on the new machines? DCV Pro 25. Has anyone successfully used a codec other than DVC to edit with in FCP and or Premiere? TIA ...
