My gut tells me "no" but it has been wrong before. For what it's worth, the official word is that we don't have the QA resources to test both applications fully together since it's such a small number of people who actually would do so. (Most people who own FCP have no need for FCE.) So it's not officially supported. But given the experiences of other developers on this list, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
