I'm trying to help someone who got a file that was created on a Pinnacle system. When the file is attempted to be compressed (to an H.264 hinted/streaming .mov file), the Batch Monitor says '3x can't encode audio from MPEG-1 or MPEG-2'. I'm guessing "3x" means it tried three times; not sure. When opened in QT Player Pro 7, and attempted to be exported, the (exported) audio settings are dimmed and cannot be modified. I was told they were able to successfully process the file with Cleaner. Any ideas on why Compressor can't deal with the audio? Thanks.

Dear Bob; Two things come to mind : Could the audio and video be muxed together ? I use bbDEMUX to fix this. Could the audio be DVD PCM, which QT doesn't seem to like ? I use Handbrake to make a mpeg-4 and then QT7 export that to wave or aiff. This is a fair pain, but it's the best solution I have found. Regards Marshall Eubanks
