site_archiver@lists.apple.com Delivered-To: pro-apps-dev@lists.apple.com Hi Brian, In Final Cut: For software plugins, there is no image size limit. - Paul On Oct 13, 2009, at 12:09 PM, Brian Gardner wrote: What exactly are the limitations on image size? And are they the same for both FCP and Motion? Are the FxPlugins limited to 2048 wide images? Is there any plans to support larger images (like 4096, 8192, or 16384 wide for Red Camera or IMAX workflow)? Personally, I'd love to have 4608x1200 and 8352x 2400 images. But, that's just me. I'm sure that FCP supporting a 4K Red Camera (fully natively) is at the top of everyone's Christmas List this year. But, I'm wondering, how far can we push the image size today, and how soon will be able to push it how much further? -- Brian _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list. For GPU plugins, you are limited to the maximum texture size the GPU supports. This is generally either 2048 or 4096. In order to support larger images, we would have to add a tiling mechanism to FxPlug, which we don't have at this time. You can make a 4k or 8k sequence in Final Cut today. You won't get RT playback, but the app should be able to handle it. This email sent to pschneider@apple.com This email sent to site_archiver@lists.apple.com
